Featured ProjectsKimball Road PROJECT DESCRIPTION The site consists of approximately 155 acres located North of Lake Attitash on the westerly side of Kimball Road, in Amesbury, Ma. Currently the northerly 20 Acres of the site is a historic gravel pit area still in use. South of the gravel pit area is a private, gravel surface, landing strip that bisects the property from east to west. Much of the remainder of the site is wooded uplands. The project involves the development of a 268 unit townhouse style development pursuant to M.G.L. Chapter 40B for low and moderate-income housing. The townhouse units will be developed in 85 buildings with 2-4 units per building and 2 bedrooms per unit. The overall density of the project is 1.7 units per acre and provides for approximately 88% open space. The project received, after lengthy appeals process, a favorable decision from the Massachusetts Housing Appeal Committee on December 12, 2006. The project will be developed with a road system through the site utilizing road widths ranging from 20 feet to 24 feet, a sidewalk along one side of the road system, and an LID stormwater management system using vegetated swales along the road system and biorention areas (i.e. rain gardens). Additional stormwater treatment is provided by constructed stormwater wetlands prior to discharge from the site. In addition, walking trails will be created throughout the entire site connecting all areas of open space. Significant portions of the open space will remain undisturbed including areas identified by Mass Historical Commission as significant historic resource areas. Wastewater will be treated and disposed on-site utilizing a wastewater treatment facility and subsurface disposal field. The proposed treatment facility will utilize sequencing batch reactor or membrane biological reactor technology. ![]() |
